Inertial Oscillation Model With License Code (Latest) An oblate spheroid is an ellipsoid of revolution, that is, an ellipsoid whose section is an ellipse rather than a circle. An oblate spheroid rotates about its center at a fixed rate, so the section is always identical with respect to that fixed rate, regardless of the orientation of the oblate spheroid with respect to the Earth. For an accurate simulation, the shape should be "closed", which means that there are no segments at the poles of the spheroid. The required number of segments depends on the size of the object being simulated, and the resolution required.
