[Results of surgery for invasive carcinoma of the cervix].
We studied the outcome of surgery for carcinoma of the cervix in 203 patients treated by combined treatment between 1962 and 1974. This combined treatment consisted of a radical hysterectomy, pelvic lymphadenectomy and irradiation. The results of this treatment, which seems to be the optimal treatment for early carcinoma of the cervix, are illustrated by the actuarial survival curves and by the respective stages. In terms of survival curves and cumulative life expectancies, as well as in terms of disease-free survival curves, there were no important differences between the treatment of patients with stage I and II, and the treatment of patients with stage II and III.Our experience of using reamers for treating critical anatomical structures.
We reviewed our experience of using reamers in orthodontic management of maxillary anatomical structures. A total of 15 patients with maxillary transverse deficiencies were evaluated. We analyzed the clinical records of patients treated with reamers, who attended the clinics of the Department of Orthodontics of the Parnassus General Hospital from December 2007 to December 2009. Reamers were used to achieve desired results in the range of 8 to 21 mm. Age of patients ranged from 16 to 36 years, and the mean age was 22 years. Four (27.7%) of 15 patients had severe maxillary transverse deficiencies. Within the study period, 10 (67.7%) of 15 patients were followed up for a mean period of 32.9 months. Three (30%) of 10 patients reported clinical improvement of the transverse deficiency, whereas 6 (60%) of 10 patients did not report any improvement. Three (30%) of 10 patients reported no clinical improvement because of resorption of reamers on the cortical plate. Based on our study results, we suggest the use of reamers for correcting maxillary transverse deficiencies, only in cases of severe deficiency and after satisfying the be359ba680
